Summary: Brittany gives Santana this *look* when they're singing 'Say A Little Prayer', like she's singing the song to her. This is what happens after the audition.
A/N: fluff alert!
( When Q auditions for Glee club the day after assembly, there's no question that her second in command, Santana Lopez, is going to have to be there with her if she knows what's good for her )

I got the game for my birthday last week. It's my current obsession. Finally got through the guitar battle with Lou at medium level via much practice on 'Knights of Cydonia' and 'Raining Blood'.
Onwards to hard. That orange button is giving me fits, but I shall prevail.
Anybody else is playing?

RL has been crazy as usual, hence the lack of activity on LJ, and worse, the irregular checking of the flist. This makes me very sad as it always brings a smile to my lips as well as sunshine to my heart when I do find the time to check-in.
I've been uncharacteristically preoccupied recently with fics dealing with NYC and fashion, which I blame entirely on Devil Wears Prada fic and watching Gossip Girl.
All of the fic at
dvlwears_prada is amazingly good. I haven't been as diligent as I wanted to be about leaving feedback for the writers. I find that unless I can leave a comment right after reading a fic, I end up not coming back to it. This doesn't work when I have to catch moments here and there to read, often from my smartphone, which leaves me with no time to post a comment. *Must figure out how to fix this as dwp writers deserve feedback*
There's now a full folder of Prada fic on my smartphone, some of my favorites:
Any story by
somniesperus is totally worth reading, some of the best femslash fic I've read. She can do everything right: plot, smut, humor, angst. 'She likes a prizefight' is a great place to start. I also have a real fondness for 'Business before pleasure'. It's bittersweet but wonderful to see how playful Andy is with Miranda even if she is clueless about why.
'Stranded' by
redscribe is a little gem. It's got plot, local color, pr0n and humor. There are more stories in this series.
I'm also a big fan of
kosmos8. My fave may be 'Something in Common' where the twins try to figure out where Andy and Miranda stand on the big questions of the time. It's clever and fun to see how the twins react to their mother's relationship with Andy.
ETA: How could I forget? 'Uninvited' by
hayseed_42 where Andy's parents meet Miranda despite Andy's best efforts. Breezy, wonderfully in character, hilarious fluff.
Also: Gossip Girl is the crack. See below the cut.
( It's enough when I say it's enough )
That's all :).

Ever since my vacation when I kept hearing Mika everywhere, I've been just slightly obsessed with listening to his CD on the iPod. I was wasting some time on Youtube just now and pretty much fell off my chair when I saw how ridiculously good looking he is in addition to everything else:
Here's a really awesome interview with Mika playing bits and pieces of various songs on the piano, explaining why Grace Kelly's intro sounds a little like 'The Marriage of Figaro'. There's even a few verses from 'Killer Queen', a Queen classic:

I liked the premiere a lot better than I was expecting to, mostly because Spencer completely pawned every scene she was in, especially her interactions with Ashley.

I have zero time to follow the details of the latest lj debacle or to move anywhere for now, but I'm hoping to keep track of the flist if/when folks decide to migrate en masse.
I have to do some research to find out the best way to aggregate an flist from various services including non LJ derived blogs. I wouldn't mind adding some external blogs to my reading list if that was easy to do.
RSS is an option but I'm under the impression that it makes commenting harder.

It's been a few days since I finished my marathon HP reading. I listened to Stephen Fry's version of Goblet of Fire, Order of The Phoenix and Half Blood Prince and Jim Dale's version of Deathly Hallows. Jim Dale has this old lady way of saying 'Sorry' which Harry, Hermione and Ron keep saying throughout DH, and 'Oh, Harry...', which Hermione says often, that I found a little distracting because it kept taking me out of the story. Aside from this nitpick, it was a great way to catch up on the books in the little bits of time here and there over the past few weeks.

My friends and I have been bemoaning how unlikely it is that Hilary will win in 2008. But it's all behind now. She can do it people!
"I have a crush on a girl named Hill,
but she's not with me she's with this guy named Bill..."
"I like your hair, the pantsuits you wear
And the shape of your derriere..."
"Let's seal the deal with a hug and a kiss,
And put a hot chick in the oval office..."
"I know you're not gay but I'm hoping for bi...lingual"
So much awesome. Taryn Southern rocks my world: the elementary school gig is cute, the glasses are hot, her fangirling about Hilary pretty much redefines lesbian chic. It's all so clever.
I heart YouTube. It is so going to change the game. Love it!

I recently ran across a really useful and fun japanese language learning podcast.
It's particularly useful if you've already studied for awhile and are looking to refresh grammar and find out what are the words people actually use in day to day life at home, at work etc...
It does the best job of anything I've tried with explaining the logic of how people really speak and going through the nuances of the various idioms and words.
It's done great things for my ability to understand the marimite raws as well as the weather reports.
The most fun episode so far has to be the 2 parter about what to do when the bf (or gf) find suspicious text messages on your cell.
Such indispensible expressions as: "Erasing the text messages is the golden rule" and "Sure, keep two timing him/her if you want to" can be learned here and here.
And really, you never know when you'll need to understand these immortal words of advice or even impress your japanese friends with your hard earned worldliness.

Jimmy Palmiotti, who co-created the PKJ comic, was in Monte Carlo with Kristanna to push the goods and wrote about it in his blog.
Aside from the pics, the best part was:
a French reporter asking me if I hated the show heroes as much as he did. [...]man, I wish I had that kind of passion. For the record, I don't hate Heroes…or any TV show that pushes the idea and genre of comics. Personally Just wish the creator would give more props to the origins of the material is all…but it's a fun show…and yes, Painkiller Jane could kick that little cheerleaders ass any day of the week. Would love to see that by the way…I think kristanna would pick her up by her arms and legs and just rip her in half. Wonder if she could heal from that? lol.
Whew! Good thing there's no passion there ;). Take it easy dude. And don't even think about hurting Claire!
We're actually going to see him in action since Jimmy Palmiotti wrote one of the upcoming episodes to be aired on July 13th. Can't wait to see how he wrote Jane and Mo. And the acid test is going to be...the voiceovers.
Really enjoyed this one, especially Maeve's cameo as Trouble's Sugarmomma.
"Looking back with hindsight, one might make different choices." Oh the understatement. Although the turning point wasn't so much agreeing to get a drink with Daisy than everything Tyler did on her own initiative afterwards.

is here. Still with the funny bitching about Tyler's girlfriend LouAnne who is definitely a hottie.
It clocks in at 1min36s with close to 30s of credits. I don't care too much because my life is going to be a whirlwind between now and next week so time will fly, but this *is* kind of short.
Geek comment of the day: Angela's storing her stuff up on Amazon S3. Such a small world.

OMG! An episode of PKJ that doesn't suck. It started off okay, with Jane, Mo and Riley at a tattoo parlor, heading home after a night of drinking. Then it took a turn into real suspense territory, just around the time the credits came on screen. This is what I was hoping PKJ would be like all along. ( click for more including spoilers, if you care )
Fashion report: Kristanna looks mighty fine in jeans and leather jacket in this ep. In the scene at the gas station when she fills her car up then gets in the car and starts to drive, she just looks so butch. And at the same time *so* pretty. The mind boggles.
