Chapter 1
Chapter 2
The brunette's unrepentant grin clearly told Spencer that Ashley was only going along to make her happy, and that plenty more could've been said on the topic.
The blonde girl couldn't help but return the grin, instinctively cradling Ashley's hand in both of hers in an attempt to keep the overactive girl under control.
They were on the highway now, and the road stretched ahead of them towards the mountains. This being LA, the top of the mountain was hidden by the ever present smog. Still visible below was the dark color of the evergreens, interrupted by bare rock here and there and the snow line on top of the range before it faded from view.
Ashley's mind had started to wander when she became aware of the stimulating effect Spencer's ministrations were starting to have on her.
Fuck me, I'm such a perv. I get turned on with Spencer just touching my hand. This is no good. I'm not going to be able to stand this much longer, the brunette thought to herself in a panic.
She looked covertly at the blonde to figure out whether she could gracefully retrieve the appendage in question. Her eyebrows crept to her hairline when she noticed that the blonde was taking stealthy glances at her every once in a while as if expecting some reaction.
"So Ashley, what's this place where you're taking us anyways?" Chelsea's question dragged Ashley out of her Spencer-induced haze.
Glad for the temporary distraction from her dilemna, Ashley replied, "My parents have had this cabin for as long as I can remember. It's right on the slopes, so you can get down from the house to the bottom of one of the lifts. From there, you can get to the top of the mountain. Which is so cool. We used to go there all the time before my parents split up. Those were the best roadtrips," she added wistfully. Spencer looked over and tightened her hold on Ashley's hand wordlessly.
Not willing to let anything dampen her mood, the brunette forced herself to continue breezily, "my Mom hates it now. But the best part is that it's big enough so we'll have plenty of space," her grin back in place, Ashley wriggled her eyebrows suggestively.
"Um…Ashley, about that…I had to promise my parents that I would room with Chelsea…," Spencer revealed in an apologetic tone.
Ashley knitted her brows in frustration. She looked in the rear view mirror to Clay, who seemed completely unconcerned, to see if she could get him to work with her.
"Hey Clay, what do you think of that arrangement? It's going to suck!"
Clay held his hands in front of him trying to stay out of the line of fire. "I'm cool either way. Whatever Chelsea wants to do is fine with me."
Ashley didn't reply right away. Spence could see the wheels were turning in her girlfriend's head. Suddenly, the brunette brightened up again.
"Okay, I'm in. You never told them I wouldn't be rooming with the two of you, right? It's going to the best slumber party ever, you'll see."
Chelsea started giggling. "You're incredible, you know that?"
"I'll take that as a compliment," Ashley laughed, completely undeterred.
When they arrived at the cabin, Ashley parked the Cayenne in the garage and produced a key from the glove box compartment. They all piled in front of the entrance with their luggage.
"There are two bedrooms on the first floor and the third one is upstairs. Clay, why don't you pick one of the downstairs bedroom, and Glen and Madison can have the other one," Ashley explained.
She then turned to the other girls: "Follow me bitches, we're going to put this shit upstairs, and then it's party time! When we're done unpacking, I'll give you guys the grand tour."
The housekeeper had stopped by earlier in the day to make the beds, put out fresh towels and stock the fridge.
"Clay, help yourself to anything in the kitchen," Ashley threw out as she ascended the stairs.
Once upstairs, the girls unpacked in record time. "I'm beat," Ashley declared, and pretty much just shoved her travel bag in a corner. The other two girls decided to follow suit.
She set her box of CDs by the stereo and selected something to play while Spencer and Chelsea looked around the master bedroom.
It was huge, taking up the entire second floor, with large windows bringing in the afternoon light. Visible beams created a rustic, alpine look. In the center of the back wall stood a king sized bed on an unusually tall frame made of dark wood, so that the girls had to climb up to lie on the welcoming white duvet. Spence ended up in the middle with Chelsea and Ashley on either side of her. The three of them looked up at the ceiling, quietly contemplating the massive beams.
"Ashley, this is pretty spectacular for a mountain cabin," Chelsea broke the silence. "This bedroom is amazing. And I want to move into the bathroom permanently. It's larger than my bedroom. I've never seen so much marble in my life."
"Yeah. It's all my mother's doing. She knows her way around that kind of stuff. Pretty much all she cares about besides hooking up another husband," Ashley explained.
The only times Ashley wasn't cracking a sarcastic joke or being deliberately crude seemed to be when she talked about her parents. Spencer turned to look at her, taking a hold of her hand.
Ashley had closed her eyes but she returned the pressure.
When Spencer lifted herself into a semi-sitting position to look at the resting brunette, she saw a picture frame on the nightstand. The picture in the frame was a close up of a young, 6 or 7 year old Ashley, in front of the cabin surrounded with snow. The young girl's face was lit up by the biggest smile, completely oblivious of her two missing front teeth. It was so precious, Spencer carefully stretched over the brunette to pick up the frame so she could examine it more closely.
Eyes still closed, Ashley felt the comforting weight of her girlfriend settling across her. "Uh, Spence? You looking for something...or have you decided to ravish me already?" There was confusion in Ashley's sleepy voice as she awaited an answer from the blonde. Since she didn't see any reason why she should be in a hurry for her girlfriend to move though, she let herself enjoy the closeness and concentrated on breathing evenly despite the added weight.
After a few more seconds went by, as Spencer didn't seem like she was going to move or say anything, Ashley started wondering what she was up to. She opened her eyes slowly, blinking a little and turning her head towards the nightstand to see what Spencer was looking at. She saw the picture in Spencer's hand at the same time as Spencer turned her gaze back to her and they locked eyes.
"Fuck, I can't believe that picture's still here," Ashley sighed.
Spencer smiled adoringly at her before saying, "I'm so happy I like girls. And I'm so happy I chose the cutest," She said teasingly. "I can't believe you used to be soooo cute. I've got to scan this photo and put it up on my MySpace."
Ashley was staring at her, eyes bugging out, trying to figure out whether the blonde was joking or serious. Spence could see the smoke coming out of her girlfriend's ears as she was trying to figure out how to get back in control of the situation.
Finally, Ashley raised herself on an elbow, lifting Spencer from where she lay atop her in the process, and held her other hand out calmly. "Spence, gimme that. You're not putting this up on your MySpace or anywhere else for that matter," she said firmly. Spencer could tell the brunette was getting a little worked up, which she couldn't help but find adorable.
Spencer sat up, holding the frame away from Ashley and starting to giggle uncontrollably while Chelsea was looking on with interest.
Ashley lunged at her and tried to grab the picture back. Spencer was pretty much squealing continuously by now, while Chelsea was laughing and trying to catch a glimpse of the picture in all the wiggling around.
"Awww, can't I even have it as the background on my laptop?" Spencer pleaded, deliberately provoking the brunette further. At that threat, Ashley tackled the other girl backwards on the bed, straddling her and redoubling her efforts to get the picture back. But her slightly taller girlfriend was able to keep it just out of reach.
"Chelsea, Chelsea, take the picture. I need to get it back later!" Spencer shouted in between peals of laughter. Chelsea snatched the picture frame from Spencer and got down from the bed to keep it safe.
"TICKLE WAR!" Ashley shouted to get back at her girlfriend for her betrayal.
The loud squealing, joyous laughter and general commotion, brought Clay up the stairs. He popped his head in to see what the cause of the ruckus was. His girlfriend was standing by the bed looking at a picture and laughing away, while his baby sister was on the bed, wrestling with Ashley and shrieking with laughter as she was being tickled mercilessly.
"Ok, ok, I give, stop, stop!" cried Spencer. Ashley wasn't sure she was in the mood to stop tickling Spencer so soon, but seeing as how they had attracted an audience, she relented. "You're going give back the picture? And there will be no scanning of any kind," she reiterated forcefully.
Clay sauntered over to Chelsea to see for himself what had created the fuss in the first place.
"Stop!" Ashley's voice rang out. "Nobody else is going to look at this fucking picture. Hand it over or I'm going to tickle Spencer again," she threatened.
"Go for it, girl. This is too good not to share," Chelsea quipped, while Clay took a peek at the picture and started smiling.
"Some friend you are, Chels," Spencer protested, lifting herself up on an elbow and looking at Ashley warily. "Okay, if you're all done, please give me the picture back so that Ashley can get off of me."
"Here you go," Chelsea handed the frame back to Spencer, "Now get off your asses, I want to check out the rest of this palace," dragging Clay down the stairs to begin her exploration.
Spencer returned the picture to Ashley who held it protectively against her chest, "Don't even think I'm done with you. I'm going to put this away and then I'll deal with you, traitor," her ticked off girlfriend looked so cute as she was grumbling away, Spencer sat all the way up and pressed their lips together in a kiss, effectively shutting her up.
